Protection level of distribution box
electrisity control box

factory general control box
The enclosure protection level of distribution boxes and electrical cabinets is usually expressed using the IP (Ingress Protection) level, which is used to indicate the device’s ability to protect against solid objects and liquids. The IP level consists of two numbers, the first number represents the dustproof level, and the second number represents the waterproof level. The following is a detailed explanation of the protection level of the distribution box:
Dustproof level
0: No protection.
1: Prevent intrusion of objects larger than 50mm.
2: Prevent intrusion of objects larger than 12.5mm.
3: Prevent intrusion of objects larger than 2.5mm.
4: Prevent intrusion of objects larger than 1.0mm.
5: Dustproof, that is, it cannot completely prevent dust from entering, but the amount of dust entering will not cause damage to the equipment.
6: Completely prevent dust from entering.
Waterproof level
0: No protection.
1: Prevent vertical dripping.
2: Prevent dripping at a 15° tilt.
3: Prevent rainfall within a 60° range.
4: Prevent splashing water at any angle.
5: Prevent water sprayed at any angle.
6: Prevent strong water spray, such as big waves or powerful water guns.
7: Prevent short-term immersion in water (generally immersion in 1m deep water for 30 minutes).
Common distribution box protection levels and applicable scenarios
IP20: It has protection against solid objects with a diameter greater than 12.5 mm, but has no protection against liquids. Suitable for indoor environments, with better protection against dust and touch.
IP54: It has protection against solid objects with a diameter greater than 1 mm and smaller liquid splashes. Suitable for indoor and outdoor environments, with better protection against dust, water spray and touch. Commonly used in outdoor power supply incoming line boxes in residential building electrical design specifications, and outdoor lighting distribution boxes and control boxes in urban night scene lighting design specifications.
IP65: It has protection against solid objects with a diameter greater than 0.5 mm and low-pressure water spray. Suitable for indoor and outdoor environments, with better protection against dust, water spray and touch.
IP66: It has protection against solid objects with a diameter greater than 0.5 mm and high-pressure water spray. Suitable for indoor and outdoor environments that require higher waterproof requirements.
IP67: Protects against solid objects with a diameter greater than 0.5 mm and short-term immersion in water. Suitable for extreme environments that require waterproof and dustproof protection.
In summary, the protection level of the distribution box should be determined according to its installation environment and usage requirements. When selecting a distribution box, its protection level should be carefully considered to ensure the safe operation of the equipment and extend its service life.
